Phoneblogging ➝

I write from my iPhone all the time. Almost everything I publish here starts as a draft on my iPhone.

Most of my link entries are written entirely from my iPhone. My longer articles are generally written on my iPad, but I will occasionally write from my Framework 13 as well.

In terms of my iPhone writing workflow, I run a shortcut that creates a new markdown file in iA Writer — either a blank template if I’m writing a feature article or with the title, link, and optional quote if I’m writing a link entry.

Once I’m in iA Writer, I write out my thoughts, add any other relevant links, update the title, file name, URL slug, and tags.

When it’s ready to publish, I send it to another shortcut using the Share Sheet that will schedule it to publish here on Initial Charge.

A Minor Update to the Toolkit ➝

I’ve added a couple new shortcuts to The Toolkit — one for saving links to Shaarli and one for subscribing to RSS feeds through Tiny Tiny RSS.

An Update to the Toolkit ➝

It’s been a while since I published an update to The Toolkit — my collection of iOS Shortcuts that I use for publishing Initial Charge. But I’ve spent the past few days going through each one, making some adjustments, adding comments, fixing bugs, and adding import questions where necessary.

It’s unlikely that you’ll be able to use these shortcuts as is with your setup. They have some hard-coded categories and expect the text input to be in a very specific format. But even if you heavily modify them or simply use the shortcuts to learn some tricks for your own shortcuts, they’ll have some value.

If you have any questions about the shortcuts or how they could be used, feel free to reach out. I’ll be more than happy to answer any questions I can.
