Sony Officially Brings PS4 Remote Play to iPhone and iPad ➝

A nifty new app that allows you to officially play PlayStation 4 games on your iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi with Remote Play. It even has support for MiFi controllers, which is pretty rad.

I’d love to see this app become available for tvOS — it would likely convince me to actually buy a non-Nintendo console again. I just love the idea of being able to stick a PS4 somewhere in the house and have the ability to play games on any TV without even having to change TV inputs. But alas, it’s iPhone- and iPad-only for now.

Sony is Bringing PlayStation Games to Android and iOS ➝

Maybe they’ll release a MFi certified version of the PlayStation 3 or 4 controller. And what if they release these as universal apps that can be played on the Apple TV?

I mean, probably not, but that would certainly be pretty cool.

Harmonix Kickstarting Amplitude ➝

Unfortunately the game will only be available for Playstation 3 and 4. I would love to see Harmonix work on a version of Amplitude for iOS. I was a gigantic fan of Phase for the iPod which was very similar to Amplitude but used the music from your iPod as the base for your gameplay.

Sony Ericsson to Introduce Android Gaming Platform ➝

Engadget’s Joshua Topolsky reports that Sony Ericsson is planning to introduce a new Android gaming platform:

We now know (via a trusted source) that the company is actively and heavily developing a brand new gaming platform, ecosystem, and device (possibly alongside Google) which are already in the late stages of planning. And we’ve got the goods on it.

The device that will launch alongside the new platform has been described to them as a landscape slider with game controls in place of the typical QWERTY keyboard (think PSP go). The display will be between 3.7 and 4.1-inches with WVGA or better resolution.

The handset will run Android 3.0 with a new area of the Android Market specifically for their high-end PSP-quality games. God of War, Call of Duty, and LittleBigPlanet are all possible titles for the platform.

This could pose a real threat to Apple. Games is one area that iOS has excelled at, but if Engadget is right with their assertion that this new platform could launch as early as October, Apple’s going to have a serious fight on their hands.
