From the welcome page:
PICO-8 is a fantasy console for making, sharing and playing tiny games and other computer programs. It feels like a regular console, but runs on Windows / Mac / Linux. When you turn it on, the machine greets you with a commandline, a suite of cartridge creation tools, and an online cartridge browser called SPLORE.
If you’ve already heard of PICO-8, it’s likely because that’s where the excellent platformer Celeste has its origins.
It’s like an emulator for a system that never existed.
I bought a license a few nights ago and got it running on my old Retroid Pocket 2+ using Winlator following the written guide from Retro Game Corps. I’ve had a ton of fun playing random games I find in Splore.
