Matti Tanskanen, writing on GitHub:
I never use the Dock and all it does for me is come in the way when I’m resizing windows or clicking on stuff I can’t access using just my keyboard.
Here’s a way to hide the Dock so it doesn’t get in the way anymore.
I was recently experimenting with a macOS setup that didn’t use the system’s Dock and used the Terminal commands that Matti shares to functionally disable the it.
Ultimately, I realized that I was better off with a dock of some kind and have been using SwitchGlass since then. The main reason I don’t want to use the system’s Dock is because I’m trying out Path Finder as a replacement for Finder and there’s no way to remove Finder from the Dock in macOS.
