LM Studios Introduces LM Link, Powered by Tailscale ➝

Kevin Purdy:

We’re excited to announce LM Link, a partnership with LM Studio, the app that makes it easy to download, run, and serve open-weight LLMs on hardware you control. LM Link is the easy and more secure way to share LLMs between devices you control, unexposed to the public Internet.

Tinkerers can access remote models at home from their laptops, teams can share their beefier GPU-backed models across multiple endpoints, and everything flows over encrypted connections.

I’ve been testing LM Link for the past week and it’s fantastic.

This makes local AI much more attainable from my existing devices because I can offload the models themselves to a far more capable machine and access it over the network.

For example, I have Gemma 4 26b a4b running on my gaming PC and I can access it from my iPhone or my Framework laptop wherever I am.

LM Link alone has me contemplating a GPU upgrade — I have a Radeon RX 7600 now, but would love some additional VRAM so I can improve token throughput and/or gain access to larger models.
