Apple Outlines Future iWork Features ➝

Apple doesn’t typically outline future feature additions. iWork users must be very upset.

New iLife and iWork Icons and Garageband Going Free ➝

The new icons look great. I’d be surprised if Apple didn’t release major updates to their iLife and iWork apps at Tuesday’s keynote.

iWork for iOS to Come Free with iOS Device Purchase ➝

Keynote, Pages, Numbers, iPhoto, and iMovie will all come free with the purchase of any iOS device. That’s huge news.

I’ve always used iPhoto as an incredible selling point when trying to convince a friend or family member to switch to the Mac. This is a great way to convince anyone on the fence to finally make the switch to iOS.

iWork ’11 to be Released Alongside Mac App Store ➝

Neil Hughes and Kasper Jade are reporting that iWork ’11 is planned to be released alongside the Mac App Store. Writing last week on AppleInsider:

People familiar with the matter say development of iWork ’11 wrapped up this fall and the software was initially slated for an introduction alongside iLife ’11 last month, but was held back at the last minute for undisclosed reasons.

Apple’s revised plans currently call for the company to launch the new productivity suite alongside the forthcoming Mac App Store, these same people say.

iWork was prominently displayed in the Mac App Store during the on-stage demo at last months event and is also shown in images on Apple’s Mac App Store page.

Whether iWork ’11 is ready or not it would be smart of Apple to release them alongside the Mac App Store. iWork is a very popular software suite and the Mac App Store would benefit from a big application release being available exclusively in the Mac App Store on day one.

Pages for iPhone ➝

9 to 5 Mac has published a slew of screenshots of the yet-to-be-announced Pages for iPhone.

Mark Gurman:

We’ve heard that iWork for iPhone will come with Pages and Numbers as a universal binary for all iOS Devices.

I missed this when it was originally published two weeks ago. It looks really slick and I can’t wait for the release.

Apple Expanding iWork.com ➝

Apple is looking for a full time software engineer to work with their productivity team on a “rich internet application.”

From the job description:

The Productivity team (i.e. iWork) is seeking an energetic, highly motivated software engineer in building a scalable rich internet application. The person will be part of the core development team and engage in an area from design to development of the software system.

Besides exceptional programming skills and devotion to creating great software, we look for one or more of the following kinds of expertise or experience:

• JavaScript language and browser technology – understanding from inside-out, or
• Computer graphics – the mathematics, algorithms and programming, or
• Experience developing scalable rich internet application, or
• Experience developing presentation/collaboration or word processing projects

It appears that Apple is planning to add editing capabilities to iWork.com. This shouldn’t be too surprising — it’s simply a logical progression.
