A neat new collaboration tool from Dropbox. It supports embedded files, task lists, automatic code formatting, and more. This looks like a great product.

Which Cloud Storage Option Is the Best Deal? ➝

Each service has its pros and cons, but I wanted to look at the 4 major storage options from a straight up price comparison. How much storage do you get based on how much cash you throw at them?

I was actually surprised at how competitive Apple’s iCloud pricing is. Their free option is pathetic, but if you’re willing to spend a little money, you’re usually going to get a pretty good deal.

Eddy Cue at Dropbox Open ➝


Apple SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue made a surprise appearance at the Dropbox Open event on Wednesday, where he touted Apple’s efforts in enterprise and showed off the new Dropbox Paper app for iPad Pro.

Dropbox Wasn’t Hacked ➝

Recent news articles claiming that Dropbox was hacked aren’t true. Your stuff is safe. The usernames and passwords referenced in these articles were stolen from unrelated services, not Dropbox. Attackers then used these stolen credentials to try to log in to sites across the internet, including Dropbox. We have measures in place to detect suspicious login activity and we automatically reset passwords when it happens.

It’s always a bad idea to reuse passwords across multiple services. This is a great example of why you shouldn’t do that.

2010 Ars Design Award ➝

Ars Technica has announced the winners of the 2010 Ars Design Awards.

Transmit 4, 1Password 3, and Dropbox did incredibly well, all winning a category and receiving runner up in another.

All of the winners will receive a custom lazer-engraved 4-inch cube of solid aluminum as trophies, and they are downright beautiful.
