Apple’s Secrets About the iPhone Were Revealed During Samsung Lawsuit ➝

Great piece by Yoni Heisler, for BGR, about some of the more interesting information that came to light during Apple’s legal battle with Samsung.

Nokia Design Stolen by New iPod nano? ➝

And here I was thinking that Nokia stole their Lumia design from the second-, fourth-, and fifth-generation iPod nano.

Apparently if you add a touchscreen and increase the size of the display, it’s a brand new design.

‘Radical New Case Design’ ➝

Jonathan S. Geller:

BGR has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4 as had been previously rumored. We have been told by a reliable source to expect a radical new case design for the upcoming iPhone, though we have not been given any additional details surrounding the design of the new iPhone case.

We’ll see.

Apple Testing iPhone for T-Mobile USA ➝

Jonathan Geller reporting for the Boy Genius Report:

That’s right, you’re looking at photos of an iPhone prototype with T-Mobile USA 3G bands. The actual internal model is N94, and if you remember, the Verizon model is N92 while the standard GSM variant is N90. We have verified that the phone itself is running a test version of Apple’s iOS […] and it includes internal Apple test apps like Radar and Apple’s employee directory app.

There’s no way of knowing when or if the iPhone is actually coming to T-Mobile anytime soon. But if AT&T does manage to acquire T-Mobile, the iPhone will be coming to the carrier eventually.

iOS 4.3.2 May Be Coming Soon ➝

Jonathan Geller reporting for Boy Genius Report:

We’ve just been told by one of our Apple ninjas that the company is working on another iOS 4.3.x release: iOS 4.3.2. […] We’re told to expect the software update for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in about two weeks.

BGR: Verizon iPhone Sales Fail to Meet Expectations ➝

Jonathan Geller:

One of our Apple sources has shared some very sensitive information on first-week Verizon iPhone launch sales with us. It’s quite interesting — we’re being told sales are performing a little under what Apple and Verizon anticipated, and we have the data to show it.

If these numbers are real, it’s amazing that the AT&T iPhone continues to sell as well as it does being this close to the iPhone 5 announcement. I guess the mass exodus to Verizon just didn’t happen.

Potential HP TouchPad Price Point and Release Date ➝

Jonathan Geller reporting for Boy Genius Report:

How does June and $699 sound for an HP TouchPad?

The price point sounds a lot better than Motorola’s $800 Xoom but the release date is about two months later than I would have liked. Is anyone going to remember this thing after the iPhone 5 announcement?

The TouchPad looks like one heck of a product, and it’s the first time that an iPad competitor actually has my attention. You can throw as many Android tablets into the market as you’d like and I wouldn’t spend nearly as much time reading about them as I have the HP TouchPad. It has innovative features and decent specs all wrapped up inside of an attractive user experience.

White iPhone 4 Appears in AT&T’s Online System ➝

Zach Epstein:

AT&T is now showing two versions of Apple’s unicorn-colored iPhone. The entries appear in AT&T’s Online Account Management system (OLAM), and read as “iPhone 4 – 16GB White” and “iPhone 4 – 32GB White.” While the carrier’s online account tool obviously wouldn’t include any indication as far as when we might expect white iPhone 4 models to hit the store shelves, it’s looking like late February or early March at this point.

I don’t know why anyone would purchase an iPhone 3-4 months before the next model is going to be announced. The white model shouldn’t be released this late in the iPhone 4’s lifespan.
