Bellevue Fine Art Found That ‘Empty’ Epson Ink Cartridges Are Still 20% Full ➝

My fiancée’s a teacher and frequently uses our home printer to prepare worksheets for her class. And just like nearly every other printer user, it always feels like we need to buy ink way more often than we should. I’m certainly not going to go to all the trouble weighing and pulling apart my ink cartridges, but if I did, I’d probably find similar results. This is downright abhorrent.

Solving the AirPrint Problem ➝

I purchased an AirPrint enabled printer last year and have been very happy with it. But, Shawn Blanc offers some options for those without AirPrint enabled printers that would like to print from their iOS devices.

Shawn ended up settling on Printopia:

Though I mostly use Printopia for actually printing out documents, it’s helpful to have its additional features.

Those features include running in the background with no Menu Bar or Dock icon, printing to any folder on your Mac, and being able to “print” directly to various applications.

Apple Ends $100 Printer Rebate Program ➝

It’s unfortunate that Apple has ended this program. Every single printer I’ve owned in my adult life was purchased using the rebate that came with a new Mac. I have a feeling it will be a long time before I buy another printer.

We didn’t buy Palm to be in the smartphone business.

If you don’t want to push your smartphone business than don’t buy a company whose main asset is a smartphone OS. An HP spokesperson later clarified that they will be investing in smartphones but they’ll also be putting webOS on printers and tablets — the only way I can see HP’s acquisition of Palm as a success is if HP goes full force with webOS handsets, anything less will seem like wasted money.
