The Aberration of Netbooks ➝

Marc:

Netbooks have come and gone from my mind repeatedly over the years. Working with students carrying 17-inch plus ‘laptops’ that consume more desk space than an actually desktop and colleagues with steely gun-metal gray MacBooks. It was in looking at the laptops around me that I finally figured out what best describes netbooks: ‘comfy’. They were these little, modest machines with rounded edges (in every sense of the word) that offered an approachable way to get a hold of a portable computer for many. At the time they were popular, you probably already had a home desktop machine so these hardback-sized companions offered a way to bring a little bit of computing with you.

It’d be nice to see that again.

I never owned a netbook, but they always seemed like neat little devices. The closest I’ve come to one was the 11-inch MacBook Air. I bought one in 2011 and from that point forward it’s been my favorite Apple computer of all time. I’m using one from 2015 now.

Is Apple Working on a MacBook mini? ➝

MacBookMini Adium StatsPreviously the computer name “MacBookAir” was found as a computer name on Adium’s publicly available user statistics. Shortly thereafter the MacBook Air was announced.

This time around we have the name “MacBookMini” popping up in Adium’s stats. Granted, it is possible to change your computer’s name to whatever you want and itt wouldn’t surprise me if some clever owner of a hackintoshed netbook would have changed their computer name.

Even with the possibility of someone changing their computer name it is also very posible that someone at Apple has been using Adium on a yet to be released Apple notebook.
