GNOME Merge Requests Opened That Would Drop X.Org Session Support ➝

I’m not thrilled about this, to say the least. I’ve just built a Linux gaming machine that I will primarily use over Steam Link. And I haven’t been able to get Steam Link working on Wayland at all.

No matter what workaround I’ve tried, I’m only able to get a black screen over Steam Link when using Wayland. If the Gnome team actually goes through with this, hopefully it will be enough for Valve and other developers to fix the many issues that still exist on Wayland.

Compose Key Shortcuts in Linux ➝

I discovered the compose key yesterday when exploring Gnome Tweaks and then I found this resource, which explains how to enable it and lists many of the key combinations. The compose key allows you to type special characters on Linux by pressing the configured compose key followed by a sequence of, typically, two or three characters. It makes it a breeze to type an ellipses, em-dash, and a whole host of others. Very neat.
