This whole Elon Musk story is just hilarious to me. If they don’t take the offer, Musk can “rethink” his investment and dump a bunch of stock, crashing the stock price. And then he can turn around and make another offer at the lower price. Twitter’s basically between a rock and a hard place.
In terms of what he could do for the company, I’m not convinced it’s salvageable. The culture on the service is just too toxic and I don’t know if there’s much that could be done to turn it around because any major changes that could improve things will likely be rejected by a large portion of the service’s users.
I’m still interested to see what happens next, but I doubt I’ll be moving off of Mastodon as my primary social network anytime soon.
