For whatever reason, we tend to compare ourselves to others. However, comparing yourself to people in the real world is one thing. Comparing yourself to the endless amounts of people on the internet is another, especially given how manipulated and glamorised they tend to be.

This is the main reason I didn’t use Instagram for the longest time. It was just an endless sea of my friends and relatives, distilling their life to just the best parts. It made me feel terrible because I was just starting out, had a low paying job, and felt like my life was painstakingly boring by comparison.

Like Chris, I’m glad my childhood was mostly free of social media.
