Micah Singleton, reporting for The Verge:
Apple has the ability to expand its lineup of Beats radio stations at will, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. […] Apple has licenses for up to five additional stations like Beats 1, without having to renegotiate with the labels.
I’m not surprised that Apple built this into their initial licensing deals — adding more stations to their lineup is the obvious next step toward building out their global radio initiative. But the biggest unknown is: what will Beats 2, Beats 3, etc. focus on? Will they differentiate based on genre, language, geographical location, or decade? I couldn’t even begin to guess.
