A new Android-based tablet available for pre-order from Best Buy and shipping April 24. 10.1-inch display, 16GB of storage, weighs 1.7 lbs., 0.5-inchs thick, and features two 3260mAh batteries.
Acer’s press release announcing the product says that the two batteries will “provide up to eight hours of playback for casual games, eight hours of HD video playback and 10 hours of WiFi Internet browsing.” I doubt you could expect that type of battery life in the real world. Considering it’s an Android-based tablet I’m willing to bet 5-6 hours is a more realistic number.
The best part about the Iconia A500 is that it costs $449.99. This is the best pricing I’ve seen on an Android-based tablet that wasn’t from some weird fly-by-night brand. But, I’m not sure how many people will actually be willing to settle for the Iconia A500 rather than spend the extra $50 on an iPad 2, but at least Acer’s trying.
