Brent Simmons on Twitter’s API announcement from earlier today:

I’m seriously disappointed by this. Not as someone with a Twitter client, but as someone who likes the service and wants my fellow developers to do interesting things.

A lot of writers are pretty upset about this announcement. And, I’m upset as well. Twitter was built on top of third-party developers’ work and Twitter has decided to start controlling third-party clients. It doesn’t seem like they’ll be killing third-party clients, but I would be very weary if I was developing an application built on Twitter APIs.

The question on my mind right now, though, is what is going to happen to Tweetbot?
