Ben Brooks makes the point in this piece that the rear camera on the iPad will be FaceTime only. I agree with him. The rear camera on the iPad 2 will exist only for FaceTime, so that users can show something other than their face while on a call. Because of this, the rear camera will be lower resolution — maybe as low as 1MP — when compared to the front-facing camera. The front camera will function as a video and still camera for self-portraits. Which will work just perfectly with the Photobooth app recently found in iOS 4.3.
