Netflix’s Jessie Becker wrote on the company’s weblog today announcing the addition of a streaming-only plan in the US. The new plan will be priced at $7.99 per month and will allow users to stream unlimited TV episodes and movies to their computer or TV.

But, with the addition of the streaming-only plan comes increased rates for plans that include both streaming and discs. The price change is only an additional $1 for Netflix’s most popular plans and Netflix has published a nice chart displaying the price changes for all of their plans.

This new streaming option is great news for a lot of Netflix users who find themselves holding onto a disc for months at a time. I would love to switch to the streaming-only plan but still watch a great deal of content on discs from Netflix. I don’t subscribe to cable and the majority of my media comes from Netflix. Although a growing portion of the content I’d like to watch is available streaming, the vast majority still isn’t. But an extra dollar a month for what I’ve been getting doesn’t sound too bad, especially if they continue to grow their streaming library at the rate they have been.
