MacRumors reports on a comment made by Verizon spokesman John Johnson when asked about what the status is on a Verizon iPhone.

His response:

No one ever asks that question. (Smiles) So, no plans to carry the iPhone in the immediate future, but you’ve gotta look at the incredible excitement around the Android devices…

Obviously he wouldn’t be able to give any details if they were in discussions with Apple. But, based on Verizon’s heavy marketing of Android, I don’t think Verizon will get the iPhone this year. I’m sure it will happen at some point — it’s inevitable. But not this year.
