Kindle DX May Be a Newspaper or University Specific E-Book Reader ➝

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amazon will be announcing a university textbook specific Kindle with a larger screen. This university Kindle will be distributed to students at Case Western Reserve University (along with Pace, Princeton, Reed, etc.) later this year and will be preloaded with content. The university will then be comparing experiences of those with the Kindle and those with standard text books.

There is no way to know if this university Kindle is the same as the Kindle DX but we will know soon enough. But, to make things even more interesting the New York Times Co. Chairman is said to be coming on stage during the Amazon event, this means it is possible that the Kindle DX could be a device that will be sold to universities as a textbook device and marketed to consumers as a newspaper device.
